Something that I love so much about Beachbody is that they very strongly encourage us to invest in our personal development. It is highly recommended to listen to or read personal development books or podcasts daily. Currently I am listening to Happy Is The New Healthy and it is rocking my world! It's no secret that I suffer from depression and I do all that I can to find happiness everywhere, so this book is encouraging me, lifting me up, and giving me amazing new ideas on how to be healthy and happy.
I'm getting close to the end of the book and something the author said hit me hard. He said that everything can be better if we just use the 3 magic words-- enjoy your journey.
We are often told things like enjoy the process, don't just wait for the destination but enjoy the journey, etc. What struck me in whar the author said is to enjoy YOUR journey. Look inward and enjoy the things that were made for you and your life, not just "the journey" that is existing.
He tells a story of bumping into someone on a busy New York street and as they head their separate ways he says to her "enjoy your journey" and she turns around and kind of smiles. He recommends that we do this in our daily lives; that we encourage others to enjoy!!
It made me smile ear to ear when I heard him say these words! So often we are worried about getting to where we need to go--whether it be an actual location, a goal weight, a promotion at work, or the end of the day when we can put the kids to bed & relax--instead of focusing on all the beautiful things that happen DURING the journey. Such as looking at the gorgeous scenery on a drive, focusing on the way you killed today's workout, how lucky you are to have a job, and the beautiful messes that come from happy kids playing all day.
That is my goal. I am going to let those 3 words actually be magical for me & enjoy MY journey.
Here's to us all slowing down & enjoying our individual journeys.
